My Crunchi order arrived since the last edition of Clean Majors.
Some of you were waiting to hear my review before taking advantage of the promo. There’s also a 30-day return window if you try and don’t love it.
What I Liked (& would buy again)
The foundation has fuller coverage than Beautycounter’s Featherweight foundation yet it feels light (not heavy or caked) on my face. I actually like it better than Beautycounter’s. The Crunchi foundation seems to dry completely and with a matte finish (whereas Beautycounter’s is moisturizing and more dewy).
The flat top brush that I splurged on was a game changer! I really liked the brush and see why so many are fans of Crunchi makeup brushes. It helps spread the foundation on my face (better than fingers). I also use it for cream blush, though I’m sure there’s a more specific brush for that task.
The eyebrow pencil was the right color and consistency. It went on creamy. It’s been a while since Beautycounter has offered either an eyebrow pencil or eyeliner (Crunchi has both; I don’t usually wear eyeliner so I didn’t get it). I’d ordered a Beautycounter sharpener before the closure so I have a quality sharp one. If you don’t, other Crunchi advocates praise the Crunchi sharpener.
The Crunchi facial sunscreen was as good as Beautycounter’s Sheer Defense for Faces. Some mineral sunscreens are difficult to rub in / apply. Read more about safe sunscreens here. Crunchi’s facial sunscreen goes on easy and felt nice once on my face (not tacky, sticky, or gummy). It’s light and moisturizing. Most of my family tans easily so we don’t wear much sunscreen but I do insist everyone wears facial sunscreen and this one gets a thumbs up from us.
Concealer - it was with bated breath I tried this one because Beautycounter’s was award winning and so many loved it. The Crunchi concealer wears very similarly! Yay! Caroline (my 14yo daughter) wears concealer more frequently than me and gave it a thumbs up as well.
I Will Return
While the texture and performance of the cream blush was favorable, the color Guava, a soft neutral pink, was lighter than what my cheeks need. Crunchi only has 3 colors. I will try Pomegranate next, which is a warm pink rose. The third color is called Spiced Mango, a warm deep coral. I am a huge fan of Beautycounter’s cream blush and will need a replacement before summer’s end.
Free Gift: Cleansing Bar
Crunchi has a similar rewards program that Beautycounter called Band of Beauty. Crunchi Insiders is worth it, in my opinion. This month’s gift is a gentle facial bar, which is similar to the Countermatch Foaming Cleanser. For $29 you get:
Welcome gift with product purchase over $50 (a $26 value).
10% CrunchiCash on every purchase (no minimum) to redeem on your favorite Crunchi products within 90 days
Member-exclusive offers, early access to new products
a membership anniversary gift
Free Shipping on orders over $125 (normally $175)
Honestly I had low expectations for this cleansing bar that were superseded in every way. It foamed, rinsed clean and left my skin feeling hydrated (not tight and stripped.) If you liked the Countermatch Foaming Cleanser you will probably like this bar. It did not remove my mascara well enough, so an eye makeup remover or other cleanser would be needed. I think men would like this facial cleansing bar. I prefer a cleansing oil or balm.
New Crunchi clients get 20% off until tonight - then it will drop back to 10%, which is the normal percentage off for first time buyers. Use code ADVOCATE20.
